The last couple of weeks I frequently got quite reproachful looks from Miss Murphy (my 17 year old cat). Well, skip the quite reproachful and make that very reproachful. The cat was absolutely not pleased with my stitching project. Now I don’t have to worry about missing skeins of thread or stitching projects that are half eaten, but the message was clear. She didn’t mind me stitching, but the design I was stitching was the big issue.

I had started mouse Monroe, from the Animal Crackers Series by Stacy Nash Primitives. Ever since I had seen the model at the show in Nashville, I just knew, this mouse is part of the family. Miss Murphy wondered why she couldn’t veto my stitching project, but a long time ago I decreed that I decide what is being stitched in our house. Miss Murphy is in charge of who gets the best spot on the couch, who gets fed first and which side of her head gets the most cuddles. I on the other hand have to do the boring things, pay the bills, do groceries, make sure the litter box is clean, turn up the heating ànd I decide what is being stitched.

Well, it has taken a bit of time, but she is now used to her new roomie. It’s not full hearted, but as long as she doesn’t need to share her food bowl, the amount of cuddles does not decrease and especially, as long as she doesn’t need to share her spot on the couch, Monroe can stay in the house as well.

Next week, Monroe goes on his first trip to the show in Zwolle. And I can already tell you, that he is not alone. But I haven’t had the heart to tell miss Murphy that.
